Please stand up and get into the blocking position as shown in step one. Raise your arm so that it is level and to the side as shown in step two. Put the same foot forward as the arm that was raised as shown in step three. Swing the elbow forward as shown in step four. Return your hands to the blocking position as shown in step five. An elbow is used when you cannot break free from someone’s hold by escaping. It can only be used when the person is very close to you. You should aim for the most sensitive part of the person that is within your reach. You should also try to use the part of the arm that is near the tip of the elbow whenever possible.
